About this site
Garage Opener Houston covers garage door and opener problems in the Houston area: what broke, what is safe to check yourself, where the coastal windstorm rules apply, and a phone number that schedules a visit from an independent provider.
What this site is not
It is not a garage door company. It does not repair doors, employ technicians, hold a contractor license or set prices. Nobody who answers the phone number works for this site. How the site is paid is on its own page.
Where the facts come from
Safety statements come from federal rules and the agency that writes them: the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s rule for garage door openers, 16 CFR Part 1211, and its publications. Industry statements are quoted from the Door and Access Systems Manufacturers Association and named as such. Texas rules come from the Texas Department of Insurance and the Texas Attorney General; TWIA's own requirements are quoted as TWIA's. Town pages use U.S. Census Bureau estimates, NOAA climate normals and FEMA’s National Risk Index. Every page lists its sources, and the full list is on the sources page.
Nothing here is legal advice. Where a rule matters to a decision, the page links to the rule itself.
